Product information "Sali"
The group Tammorra was formed in 1992 in Palermo, Sicily. Her artistic starting point is the culture and folklore of southern Italy, especially Sicily. A surprising, vibrant music show quickly brought the ensemble international success. In January 2000 they received the only prize for European folk music awarded in Germany, the 'Eisernen Eversteiner'; of the Plauen Folk Autumn.
Over the years, the musicians have constantly refined the group's sound, incorporating new ideas and foreign influences: jazz and pop elements, Latin sprinkles, rap, trip-hop - you name it. With a lot of skill and sensitivity, but also with well-founded musical knowledge and ability, Tammorra develops a contemporary, original and convincing synthesis: New Mediterranean folk music without cultural blinders.
In the furious rhythm of Tammurriata and Tarantellaent, the music takes the listener to a festival full of Mediterranean joie de vivre. But that's not all: With sophisticated arrangements, polyphonic choral settings, interlocking vocal and instrumental lines and surprising changes in rhythm, the group is constantly bringing new, small sensations to the attention of the audience. The wealth of ideas of the Sicilians seems inexhaustible.
