Where does fine sound begin? Where does it end? These questions ring constantly in our ears. The truth is, various factors have a major impact on the sound quality produced by audio systems, and one of these factors is power supply. It is subject to fluctuations that vary depending on the location of your home (in a city or a rural environment). If we look at things from a purely physics perspective, the music produced by a loudspeaker is ultimately nothing more than domestic current converted into sound. This statement sounds almost too banal compared to the hi-fi jargon we are all accustomed to. Unfortunately, all too often we ignore where the sound actually comes from and the importance of having a stable power supply. A “clean” current is the raw material of fine sound, and our AC-4500 Power Station makes sure that this is what you get.

The AC-4500 Power Station is available in several versions – from a basic model with one filter for all six sockets through to the top model that comes equipped with six separate filters, one for each socket. The models differ not only in the number of filters they are equipped with, but also in the combination of filter types they provide – type I (for analog devices) and type II (for digital devices). The AC-4500 Power Station was developed completely in-house, and each unit is manufactured in the company’s own facility. Units subsequently undergoes rigorous testing with documentation of the results. Because safety is paramount for this type of unit, we have also arranged for an accredited laboratory to verify CE/CB conformity. The Power Station’s sensitive technology is protected by a robust metal housing made of 2 mm-thick galvanized sheet steel. It has an elegant front panel made of brushed aluminum. The interior of the housing is designed so that the socket groups are shielded from one another, and any interference stemming from the connected devices is unable to propagate.

Background

Where does fine sound begin? Where does it end? Audiophile is asked this question constantly. The truth is, physical factors have a major impact on the sound quality produced by audio systems. This also includes the power supply: In principle, we hear nothing other than household current modulated by the music signal. If this useful signal mixes with modulation or interference from other consumers in your own home and sometimes even from the neighborhood, the sound starts to deteriorate: Countless consumers, especially digital consumers, switching power supplies, car charging stations and PV systems, generate strong distortions in the power grid – and the trend is rising. These distortions make life difficult for the hi-fi components and cover the sound like clouds of acoustic fog. Now, very few hi-fi enthusiasts operate their own power station, so they are inevitably connected to the heavily loaded power grid. For most people, the sound starts at the socket or even at the fuse box – everything before that is beyond our control.

Parallel filter

It is therefore necessary to filter the interference from the power supply – conventional filters, however, are known as “dynamic eaters”, which is certainly also the case with serial circuits. The reason for this are coils connected in the supply line, which definitely increase the transition resistances and slow down dynamic impulse currents. At the core of the Referenz AC-3502, however, is a highly efficient parallel filter, finely tuned to audiophile requirements, which effectively dissipates annoying interference both from the mains power and from the connected devices themselves without restricting the energy supply. This is supported by the damped sub-chassis, which dampens the mechanical vibrations of the filter components caused by the 50 Hz mains frequency. The star-shaped distribution also ensures a homogeneous supply to all connected components. The Referenz AC-3502 Power Station is a central pillar in achieving a sound that is both refined and powerful.

Further features

The technology sits in a solid metal housing with a brushed aluminum front. Six high-quality sockets are available at the rear. Thanks to the central high-current mains connection socket (IEC C20), the power cable can be easily replaced if necessary, with a longer cable for example. Integrated surge protection safeguards the connected devices from everyday voltage peaks, and the sockets can be conveniently switched on and off using the "Power" button on the front panel. The operating state is indicated by LED lighting: If the LED lights up red, the sockets are switched off. If the LED lights up blue, the sockets are switched on.

The sound gain was clear, outstanding even. There is no better way to enhance the high end. We are critical - but here we award a clear highlight."

AC-1205 AIR | Schuko - C19 | Basic
High-end mains power cable Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point | Multicore
Length: 1 m | Connector: SCHUKO> C19
Soundscapes are created by the dynamics in the music. To exploit the full potential of your high-end audio components, you need a reliable power pipeline that provides your components with the power peaks with as little delay and loss as possible. This is where the AC-1205 AIR mains connection cable comes into play. Our innovative AIR technology has already caused a sensation in the high-end scene and now also forms the architectural basis for the AC-1205 AIR mains cable. Using specially developed clips, the individual conductors are held at fixed distances and insulated from each other by an "air dielectric". This reduces both capacitive and inductive interference and ensures a smooth flow of energy. The multicore design of the AC-1205 AIR neutralizes the magnetic interference and magnetic fields generated by current peaks and minimizes the line inductance. In addition, the large number of individual wires reduces the skin effect that occurs at high frequencies. Splitting the current across many cores not only increases the usable conductor cross-section, but also increases the overall cross-section of the cable. The result is a reliable power supply, even in the most demanding passages, which allows your sound system to develop its full potential. To minimize electromagnetic interference fields, the AIR cables are shielded with a dense braid of tinned copper. This not only protects your audio components, but also neighboring cables from unwanted interference caused by the high current peaks in the power cable. The in-akustik High End AC-1205 AIR mains cable is an outstanding energy pipeline for perfect audiophile sounds. It eliminates unwanted effects and makes a not insignificant contribution to the most authentic music reproduction possible. Click here and discover the exciting details

AC-2502
High-end mains power cable Quality: Referenz 3 x 2.5 mm² | Dense foil shield
Length: 1 m | Connector: SCHUKO> C13
A hi-fi system basically reproduces nothing other than modulated household electricity. Consequently, it should arrive at devices with as little inhibition as possible. The big challenge for power supply cables is extreme current peaks. These are caused by the connected devices themselves converting alternating current into direct current. Such extreme current peaks cause a whole range of undesirable effects, which is why the power cable is of particular importance. The Referenz AC-2502 mains cable is equipped to deal with this demanding task, and is specially designed for connecting up high-quality hi-fi and high-end audio systems. Its features include 3.3 times the normative minimum conductor cross-section and shielding to protect the sensitive audiophile components in the chain from the interference fields caused by the current peaks. Safety comes first: However much we focus on high-end sound, safety plays a particularly important role in this cable category. That’s why every AC-2502 undergoes an insulation and high-voltage test in addition to the standard function test. The results are documented, and each cable is given an individual serial number.

LS-1205 AIR
High-end speaker cable Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point | Multicore
Connection type: SW | Length: 2 x 3 m | Connector: Banana
Because the speaker cable carries the largest current in the entire device chain, a suitable conductor cross-section is required to transport it with as little loss as possible. This current generates correspondingly strong magnetic fields and, since it is alternating current, there is a frequency-dependent resistance in the inductance of the cable. Low inductance is therefore particularly important for speaker cables - and this is precisely what has been achieved with the LS-1205 Air: The cable's inductance value has been reduced by a particularly ingenious arrangement of the conductors, the 4-fold "multicore" structure, enabling it to behave in a completely sound-neutral way over a wide frequency range. In addition, the magnetic fields generated around the individual conductors overlap and neutralize each other. This means that all frequencies are transported unhindered and without any time delay, enabling a fabulously open and detailed musical presentation. At the end of the air helix, the LS-1205 Air’s four conductors are separated into so-called aluminum splitters for the receiving connector. In the area between the splitters and plug, in-akustik uses highly flexible molded parts made of a special elastomer. These parts are fixed inside the splitter using a specifically designed plastic plug. This means that the cable remains reliably flexible in the connection area as well. The molded parts run right to the front of the connectors and enclose their inner workings - which underscores the sleek yet attractive design of the LS-1205 Air.
