"Furthermore, the optimized power supply ensured a consistent energy flow, resulting in a more organized soundstage with added depth. The Audiovector R8 Arreté speakers emit mid and high frequencies to the rear as well. However, the already impressive spaciousness was further refined. The improvement in coherence and precision was truly striking. Where often one aspect is gained at the expense of another (tablecloth effect), here the tablecloth seemed to expand in all directions." Because the speaker cable carries the largest current in the entire device chain, a suitable conductor cross-section is required to transport it with as little loss as possible. This current generates correspondingly strong magnetic fields and, since it is alternating current, there is a frequency-dependent resistance in the inductance of the cable.

Low inductance is therefore particularly important for speaker cables - and this is precisely what has been achieved with the LS-1205 Air: The cable's inductance value has been reduced by a particularly ingenious arrangement of the conductors, the 4-fold "multicore" structure, enabling it to behave in a completely sound-neutral way over a wide frequency range. In addition, the magnetic fields generated around the individual conductors overlap and neutralize each other. This means that all frequencies are transported unhindered and without any time delay, enabling a fabulously open and detailed musical presentation. At the end of the air helix, the LS-1205 Air’s four conductors are separated into so-called aluminum splitters for the receiving connector.

In the area between the splitters and plug, in-akustik uses highly flexible molded parts made of a special elastomer. These parts are fixed inside the splitter using a specifically designed plastic plug. This means that the cable remains reliably flexible in the connection area as well. The molded parts run right to the front of the connectors and enclose their inner workings - which underscores the sleek yet attractive design of the LS-1205 Air.

in-akustik Reference LS-4005 AIR Speaker Cable

Thanks to the Air Helix design, the conductors run freely suspended through the length of the cable.

The Air Helix architecture permits signal conductors to be insulated to practically 100% by air. Special clips were developed to provide the supporting framework. Positioned at defined intervals inside the cables, these clips keep the helically-arranged conductors apart. Cable flexibility is assured by means of two struts that ensure the clips remain together but also at a precise distance from each other. This architecture is unique, bringing low capacitance and minimum dielectric losses – a true milestone in the search for open and unadulterated sound.

Our physical approach: Minimize losses for true-to-original playback.

Our Referenz AIR cables transport audio signals between source, amplifier and speaker in an authentic way and with a minimum of loss. You can enjoy music that precisely expresses the emotions of the artists at the time of recording – sensual, subtle, light-hearted or orchestral right through to full-blooded and rocking. Vocals and instruments are delivered in unadulterated form. Everything remains vibrant and full of emotive energy. Favorite tracks and pieces continue to trigger strong feelings even when you’ve heard them a hundred time over.

  • "The whole thing was tremendous fun for me and the product also won over two other hi-fi enthusiasts I know [...] This cable delivers such honest and authentic sound that you might forget you`re hearing it through a cable at all. It makes listening to music that much more enjoyable!"

Test listener Steffen B. | LS-4004 AIR (previous model)
  • "As if instruments had moved from the background to the foreground. Not in terms of position, but in terms of the clarity of the sound [...] The cable is absolutely honest and highly recommended. The price is of course very high, but for many who want to hear this, it will be worth it."

Test listener Klaus J. | LS-4004 AIR (previous model)
  • "Enormously clear and differentiated trebles, a great bass foundation, the different singers voices are amazingly audible individually and come together to create a tremendous whole [...] The stage is even wider than with my regular cables."

To the point

AIR Helix

The Air Helix architecture enables the signal conductors to run freely suspended through the length of the cable and permits signal conductors to be insulated to practically 100% by air.

The dielectric

Using air as a dielectric lowers capacitance to a minimum. In comparison with other insulators, using air as a dielectric leads to no increase in capacitance and creates no dielectric losses.

Multicore structure

By cleverly arranging the conductors in the multiply nested multicore structures, overlapping magnetic field areas are created that significantly reduce inductance.

The conductors

The Cross Link Super Speed waveguide avoids so-called skin effects and delivers a balanced sound, even with complex music passages and high volume levels.

Pressure-grouted contacts

The connectors are pressed directly into the conductor material of the cable using a special tool with a force of 1.5 tonnes. Contact resistance and other negative solder effects are avoided.

Point-to-point Air Helix for end-to-end connections

A new feature in the 5th generation of in-akustik’s Air Helix architecture is the point-to-point connection. Specially designed transitions are available for each type of cable and connector. Across the complete length of the cable – point-to-point AIR Helix. It may sound trivial at first, but the results are impressive. Sound signals are transported with minimized losses, right through to the final centimeters. The sound is more detailed and dynamic than even before.

The conductor structure

The Cross Link Super Speed waveguide avoids skin effects caused by eddy currents in the conductor. Thanks to the braided structure, the waveguide is able to precisely transport even extreme current peaks. A lacquer coating around each wire prevents eddy currents within the conductor and protects against oxidation. All this results in a conductor that delivers a balanced sound consisting of vibrant and never overemphasized timbres, even in complex musical passages and at high volume levels.

in-akustik Reference LS-4005 AIR Speaker Cable

The conductor material

The conductor material is a crucial factor for the transmission of sound signals. Any contamination worsens the conductance and increases the background noise. We only use pure, oxygen-free copper in our AIR cables. We ensure that only carefully selected batches of pure copper are processed. We take great pains to measure the quality of the copper before it is sent to the mill for drawing to the required cross-section over the course of a multi-stage process.

in-akustik Reference LS-4005 AIR Speaker Cable

The multicore structure

Inductivity is a critical parameter in loudspeaker cables. By cleverly arranging the conductors in the multiply nested multicore structures, overlapping magnetic field areas are created that significantly reduce inductance. This allows the entire frequency spectrum, including high frequencies and dynamic impulse sequences, to be transported in an unimpeded way and with no delays. The music seems more exquisitely detailed, and the sound gains in fine dynamism. All details are kept distinct yet harmonious at the same time.

Movement across three axes make the 360-degree BFA and spade connectors really easy to connect and disconnect. Difficult set-up operations that put a strain on both cables and devices are a thing of the past. The connectors can easily be attached to terminals from a wide range of manufacturers. No awkward bending is necessary, avoiding damage to surfaces and potential contact resistance. Set-up is fast and problem-free. The attractively designed connectors are the perfect complement to the outstanding sound.

in-akustik Reference LS-4005 AIR Plug Set

Rhodium-coated

The best cable requires optimum connection technology. We use tellurium copper, a harder metal alloy that maintains the high conductivity value. Much superior to that of brass connectors. The rhodium coating ensures long-lasting contact and corrosion resistance. The stable conductivity is even maintained with frequent conversions. This is better than gold contacts, which wear out quicker.

In-Akustik Reference LS-4005 Air Cable Assembly

Pressed contacts (1.5 tonnes)

The contact elements of the connectors are pressed directly into the conductor material using a special tool with a force of 1.5 tonnes. This creates a stable and reliable connection without the use of solder or ferrules. Transition resistances and negative effects are avoided to ensure optimum signal transmission.

High-end and hi-fi systems are a combination of high-precision and intricately made devices. Perfectly attuned to each other, they allow music to be played back in outstanding quality. To ensure that all components can function flawlessly, they need to be kept free of interference to the greatest extent possible, just like high precision measuring equipment does. The same also applies for the connection cables. Interference is caused in a number of different ways. Along with typical electromagnetic interference, which can, for example, be minimised by using good shielding, mechanical vibrations and shocks also have an impact on the playback quality. Added to this are the effects of capacitive coupling between conductors and floors, which affect loudspeakers cables in particular. The conductors form unwanted capacitance, not just in interplay with each other, but also with other surfaces in the immediate surroundings. A good way to counteract this is by increasing the distance to the surfaces. As a rule, a few centimetres suffice. Vibrations are caused in different ways and they can be transmitted by structure-borne and air-borne noise. Structure-borne noise refers to vibrations that are exhibited by a body, such as the housing of a device. An example of this is the loudspeaker box. The membranes of the speakers are stimulated, making them vibrate. However, as the membranes feature a mechanical connection with the loudspeaker housing, they also transfer vibrations to the housing. The vibrations will be stronger or weaker according to the housing weight and the insulation. The vibrations are also transferred to the surface on which the loudspeakers are placed, this being the floor. Two things now occur. On the one hand, the floor emits some of the structure-borne energy as airborne sound (resulting in the typical droning noise), while on the other hand, the structure-borne noise is transferred, for example, to the cable placed on the floor. More about the effects of this later on. Airborne sound refers to vibrations that are transferred through the air and that are audible for humans (with the exception of infrasound and ultrasound). The primary purpose of a hi-fi system is to produce sound. However, airborne noise not only stimulates the eardrum, but also acts on all other surfaces it reaches. This causes the walls, floors and other surfaces, and ultimately the hi-fi components and cables, to vibrate as well. The combination of airborne and structure-borne noise not only causes glasses in a display case to vibrate mechanically, but all components, including the cable used for a hi-fi signal chain, as well. Experiments have shown that the sound from the components and from the cables is impaired by the vibrations. One reason for this is, for example, the capacity values of components in relation to each other, which constantly change due to the vibrations. In order to minimise these so-called microphonic effects, the components must be isolated from the surface on which they are placed. This can be done by using the Reference High Tech Gel Absorber, for example, for appliances and loudspeakers. Their core contains a special gel, which physically converts the vibrations into heat. The Reference Cable Bases have been developed specifically for cables. Their base also contains a special gel, along with natural rubber strips, in which the cables can float freely. Along with absorbing the vibrations, the Reference Cable Bases also keep the cables at a distance to the floor. This reduces unwanted capacitances and reduces the effects on the electronics.

NF-4005 AIR | XLR
High-end audio cable Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point
Length: 1 m
Good sound needs space! In developing our Air technology, we have proven that an audio cable’s insulation plays a decisive role and has a significant influence on the sound. This is due to dielectric losses and the electrostatic properties of the insulating materials, which burden the hi-fi system like heavy luggage and make it sluggish. By “omitting” this strain we then help the entire hi-fi chain to achieve top performance. We do this with special clips that guide the signal conductors through the cable in a row and freely suspended. A cable’s geometry also influences these factors. Bigger distances mean less load. This is exactly where our NF-4005 AIR comes in: The AIR helix design and the cable’s dimensions create even more space and air between the signal conductors. The cable thus forms a wide audiophile corridor and rolls out the red carpet, so to speak, for every sound detail. New XLR 180° plug: It is only possible to insert XLR connectors in one direction. This can be annoying as the position of the XLR sockets in devices varies. In order for the cable to fit, it must sometimes be twisted by force. This puts a strain on cables, plugs and device sockets and sometimes simply looks a mess. The new XLR 180° plugs developed in-house can be rotated by +/- 45 degrees, i.e., up to a total of +/- 90 degrees from connector to connector. The finishing touch for perfect cabling. LS-8005 AIR
High-end speaker cable Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point | Multicore
Connection type: SW | Length: 3 m | Connector: BFA & Spade
High-end loudspeakers need power – and a lot of it, quickly and precisely. For the perfect sound the power must correspond one hundred percent with the analog image of the original sound source, be it an A cappella soloist or a stomping rock concert. A few technical tricks that help to skillfully circumvent physical influences are required to deliver this power to the loudspeaker right on time and holistically. Line resistance and line inductance play an important role with speaker cables. The powerful Referenz LS-8005 AIR has impressive 32 Cross Link Super Speed waveguides with an enormous total cross-section of 38 mm². The cross-section alone, however, does not make a good cable. The smart nesting of the conductors almost completely eliminates magnetic fields, paving the way for the finest sound facets and powerful pressure in equal measure. Good sound needs air! In developing our Air technology, we have proven that an audio cable’s insulation plays a key role and has a significant influence on the sound. Grounding option: The number of cell phones, WiFi routers, Bluetooth devices, PV systems and charging stations etc., is constantly increasing. This also increases the potential for electromagnetic interferences, which can affect hi-fi and high-end systems. Cables act like antennae and can transfer the interferences to the devices, where they overlay the audio signal in sensitive circuit areas, resulting in a “washed out” sound. Effective shielding and grounding concepts are crucial to protect the sound. The grounding cable of a record player is a very well-known example of this. The LS- 8005 AIR is equipped with a grounding option, which, depending on the configuration, can be connected to the amplifier’s earth, the protective conductor or earth or a grounding box, to divert disturbances. LS-4005 AIR | BiWire Jumper
High End BiWire Jumper Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point | Multicore
Length: 180 mm | Connector: Banana
To achieve the best possible sound, it is crucial that the amplifier has a firm grip on the speakers. In addition to activating the membranes to make them vibrate, it must also be able to dampen them effectively. One measure of this is the amplifier’s damping factor. The speakers’ actual damping factor is significantly influenced by the quality of the speaker cables and connecting bridges of the bi-wiring terminals. The original bridges often consist of simple stamped sheet metal parts of inferior quality. The new in-akustik AIR High End Bi-Wire Jumpers are based on the technologies, findings and materials of the renowned LS-1205 AIR, LS-2405 AIR and LS-4005 AIR speaker cables. If bi-wiring is not an option, these high-end bi-wire jumpers offer an excellent alternative to the often inferior metal bridges on the speaker terminals. They ensure an even and controlled signal distribution, which is perfectly harmonized with the respective speaker cable. Dynamic music places an impulsive load on the output stages of an audiophile hi-fi chain. That's why we developed the Referenz AC-4005 AIR mains cable. Specially developed clips are used to keep the individual wires at a defined distance apart. The resulting "air dielectric" reduces power losses to a minimum and significantly improves the electrical parameters. The multicore structure leads to an overlap, so compensating for the magnetic fields around the individual cores. The line inductance is greatly minimized, depending on the number of cores, and the skin effect caused by steep current flanks at high frequencies is clearly and audibly reduced. In addition, the usable conductor cross-section is effectively extended, and without the negative effects of thicker cables. A dense shielding braid of tinned copper protects neighboring cables and components against external interference and also prevents oxidation. Phono-2405 AIR | SME 90° - RCA
High-end phono cable Quality: Referenz AIR Helix Point-to-Point
Length: 1 m | Connector: SME 90° > 2 x RCA
The good old record sounds more vibrant than ever. The demand is astonishing, even for experts. The figures for records sold are increasing just as surprisingly as the number of record players. It’s a real boom. But how to improve the sound? One way is to use a new, better cable between the tonearm and the phono amplifier. The Phono-2405 AIR is a cable created to deliver top sound. What sets it apart is an absolutely unique air insulation, called the Air Helix. We have developed a special clip for this technology. It separates the two cable bundles, keeps them apart, and virtually embeds them in air. Using a large number of these clips, it is possible to route earth and signal extremely stably over longer distances. Why the effort? With this approach it is possible to pass on the sensitive signals without slowing them down - the result is fast and high-resolution sound. The Super Speed waveguides are threaded by hand and the clips are fitted with great care in the company's own factory. After this, the resulting Air Helix is also shielded and fitted with the PE network jacket by hand. Finally, the rhodium-plated connectors are fitted and cable functionality is tested. Because it's all about the most important, smallest signals: There is nowhere in the audio world where smaller currents flow that need to be passed on perfectly. The signal level of an MM or MC system is extremely sensitive, at just a few thousandths of a volt. In addition to this, the systems have an inductive character. In combination with the cable capacitance, they form what is known as an oscillating circuit, which favors specific frequencies. If these frequencies are unfavorable due to excessively high capacitance, this has a major effect on the harmony of the sound. Extremely low capacitance and dielectric losses are just two advantages of the Referenz Phono -2405 AIR. They form the basis for unadulterated enjoyment of your vinyl jewels. The sound of good records can hardly be resolved in a finer way than this. Click here and discover the exciting details

Special tonal characteristics and moods from different genres that await discovery from track to track. Authentic timbres and the greatest possible dynamics, lots of variety and always a bit of technical and musical challenge. To best transmit this musical experience, the cutting has been made using the DMM process and 180 Gr. Virgin Vinyl for the pressing. • DMM • 180 Gr. Virgin Vinyl • 45 RPM
