Colors reflect not only the Russian-born pianist and composer’s creative drive, but also her seemingly limitless imagination.
Each of the 14 colors she interprets represents a different stage in life, with the songs presented chronologically.
When she decided to write songs about colors, she studied everything about colors collecting all kinds of information. Ultimately, everything is filtered through her inner feelings and expressed through melody and harmony.
Yelena Eckemoff's idea to record a piano / drum album was made after she recorded a track in this format with Peter Erskine. She likes the way drums can create an ambience around the piano while at the same time allowing for interaction. And who could be more suitable for this than the charismatic drummer Manu Katche.
