Die Sessions, die dieses Album hervorbrachten, waren das erste von nur zwei Studioalben mit Paul Desmond und Gerry Mulligan. Im Grunde handelt es sich um die gleiche Instrumentierung, die Mulligan in seinem klassischen Quartett ohne Klavier mit Chet Baker verwendete, allerdings mit Desmonds Altsaxophon statt Bakers Trompete. Als sehr lyrischer Spieler passt Desmonds Sound perfekt zum tiefen Klang von Mulligans Baritonsaxophon, und ihr Zusammenspiel ist sehr überzeugend.
